Principles and Laws I
Today I want to talk about principles and laws. We seem to forget that principles and laws govern life. I call principles the conditions that make laws effective. Follow along for more clarity. It's going to get a bit technical here, so don't zoom out; you will understand everything by the end of this series.
Principles are what make laws applicable. They provide order and predictability. They create the framework within which laws can function effectively. Are you with me? Let's continue.
There are three types of laws:
- Law of nature: Built into nature and manifests immediately when the conditions are met.
- Law of man: Humans create laws to regulate their coexistence. These laws should respect both the laws of nature and spiritual principles. Individuals naturally seek self-satisfaction; however, to coexist while respecting each other's freedom, regulations are necessary to guide and manage these relationships. Countries establish constitutions to articulate their values, outline their principles, and set expectations for citizens' behaviour.
- Spiritual law: This law supersedes all others and is the foundation of natural laws.
I will focus on spiritual laws in this blog because I believe they are the foundation of every other law.
Spiritual laws
We must understand our make-up. We are spirits living in earthen vessels. The body houses your true self—the spirit—while the soul connects the body and spirit. Your soul encompasses your will, emotions, and thoughts, sending signals to both the spirit and body to help them communicate. Therefore, it is crucial to understand what influences you physically and spiritually. Your senses are gateways to your soul and, in turn, to your spirit.

Back to the origin of things
The earth was created before humanity. The laws of nature were established alongside the principles that govern these laws. A creature was needed to manage this beautiful creation called earth. Humans are unique beings, created as spirits with bodies, regulated by the soul. We are spirits created by a greater, mightier spirit known as Yahweh in the Christian faith. Only humans, as spirits in bodies, can have dominion in this physical life and access to the spiritual realm.
Without this duality (body and spirit), humans cannot effectively operate on earth; in other words, we would exist illegally. To be legal in this realm, a spiritual being must inhabit a physical body. Our Creator established this principle to prevent unauthorised crossings between realms. Only humans are granted the authority to navigate both the spiritual and physical realms, accessing what is otherwise hidden to bring it into reality.
I know you might be wondering: what happened to the soul? As I stated earlier, the soul connects the two. I hope I have not lost you here, but don't worry; you will understand as we move on.
When we pray or meditate, we tap into the unseen, and this connection leaves a trace or brings something back with us. Consider the internet: it exists in an unseen world but is undeniably real. When you visit a website, you leave a digital footprint on your device, which you can find in your history or saved memory. The website can also connect to you, allowing it to monitor your activity and gather information, often without your knowledge. This is done through cookies.
This dynamic mirrors the relationship between the spiritual and physical realms. The physical realm is our legal home as spirits residing in human bodies. Just as there are different countries and homes on earth, the spiritual realm has various dimensions. To enter a country, you must meet specific requirements, such as having a visa or citizenship. Similarly, to access different dimensions in the spiritual realm, you need the right keys to unlock the appropriate doors for full access at that particular time and place. Entering the wrong door due to ignorance can lead to significant consequences.
Life does not simply happen; every action has its implications.
Obedience as a key
One of the spiritual keys to unlocking spiritual laws is OBEDIENCE. In fact, it is the number one requirement for leading an effective supernatural life. This means adhering to the spiritual and natural laws. Because of the will's corrupt nature, obedience can be one of the most challenging tasks for humans. However, obedience is not merely blind obedience to rules or laws; we are not designed to function that way. In His infinite mercy, God did not create us as enslaved people, but as His children and co-workers who carry His essence.
It's important to understand that although we are made in God's image, the choices we make regarding whom and what to obey influence that image. This, in turn, affects our ability to impact and shape the world around us. True obedience requires us to align our will with that of the spirit and God through the Holy Spirit. This connection is spirit-to-spirit and is then expressed through our souls and bodies.
The Cost of Disobedience
You can follow laws and still be disobedient. For example, consider genetically modified fruits. You may follow the command to subdue the earth and the law of sowing, but your motives and methods may run counter to the underlying principles, resulting in disobedience. The condition is not to mix different kinds; however, we use the law and knowledge in a way other than intended.
Similarly, when you give, you may follow the law of giving and receiving, but if you do so to be noticed or praised, you disobey by failing to respect the conditions of giving. While people often judge based on outward appearances, the spirit is judged by the spirit, focusing on what is unseen. This means your thoughts and motives matter.
If you obey outwardly but rebel in your spirit, you have disobeyed. It is by this measure that you will also receive. This principle applies to every aspect of life!
Anything done while disregarding the principles governing that realm operates in disobedience. The consequences can be catastrophic, especially when you violate spiritual law.
"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - His good, pleasing and perfect will." (Romans 12:2 - NIV)
Know and understand your makeup and submit to the spiritual law before you can submit to any other law.
